A QUESTION:
I'm going to put pendants up on my etsy shop very shortly (and have a giveaway on this blog planned, so keep checking back!)
However, I need your help- How much do you think is reasonable to sell these for? They're 1x3", made of glass and solder with beautiful objects captured in the middle. I would sell them with a black ribbon.

More gig photos...
it was an awesome gig, i stayed with one of my best friends from Uni, Arthur. After the gig we stayed up until 4, watched Gossip Girl, pushed pillows in one anothers faces and messed around with the speed on vinyls. Bob Dylan sounds just as amazing sped up and slowed down!

The lighting at this gig was all over the place, half the time it was red so i had to turn them to black and white so they were half way decent.
although, i think they work black and white...

and i love being short enough to wriggle to the front without upsetting toooo many people!

i'm really sorry for the absence.
i've had a bit of an emotional week. it's always so hard when you realise something is truly over. it makes your head spin from the absence of something familiar, even when you thought you were already okay with it.
i've never had vertigo with my feet at sea level before.

writing by the light of a candle, legs dangling out of my window. i can hear rain drops being caught by the leaves from the recent storm. my fairy lights, as ever reflected so perfectly in the window, the candle casting beautiful shadows on my curtain. my hair, my arms in the window. i love that silhouette. i feel beautiful. i love the curls my hair make, in that relection. i love my arm, it looks slender, in that reflection. each fairy light reflected five, ten times. i' m in love with light. with reflection. my cranes in the lantern, my camera, my pipe. the national. the cool air on my feet and the brush of plants. a cigarette butt, number 10 but idon'twanttothinkofyou.

My friend James, who's a very keen photographer (way more technical than me!! i envy his knowledge!) knows how much I love birds, so he took me to Groomsbridge Place as a birthday gift. they have raptors (birds of prey) and these massive swings in a wood, deer, loads of play areas and peacocks!
it was an awesome day!

These deer were so beautiful..they were in an enclosure first, and we thought they were really shy, but the started to talk towards us, only to leap, one by one, over the fence and run off! it was lovely (:

The handler has a really interesting outlook on his business- looking after the birds and putting on shows. he never strokes or touches the birds (other than holding the strings from their legs) because he sees them as 'employees' and pays them for their work with food and keep.
You've got to admire his passion- this guy is out there every single day, keeping up this business, with no government funding, just the donations that are given in at the end of shows.

Today was an incredible day, a day of looking at the world from my windowsill.
There was the biggest storm I have seen for years, a bird was struck out of the sky just by the thought of it! the sky split in two and the road was lit up as if it were day. the sound of the rain falling through the leaves kept me on the wet windowsill until 3am.
What kept me there so long was how beautiful reflections are, you can just spend hours looking into them and you never get bored. reflections of fairy lights, reflections of stars, and of leaves.

Today I went to New Designers in London with my mum, which was amazing. I picked up so many postcards!

Sorry for the absence, it was partly because I had friends staying for several days and partly because i've just been feeling really unwell.
I've worked a few days as a supply teaching assistant at a school for children with severe learning difficulties, which is really challenging.
There are also at least 5 confirmed cases of swine flu in this school, so please cross your fingers for me that i haven't got it!!

Here are some of my favourite photographs that I took at Bon Iver on Tuesday. Supporting him was Alela Diane, who has really such a beautiful voice. As it was so gorgeous outside and the gig was inside a big tent, not many people came to see her play, so we managed to get right to the front (except for a tall, fat man infront of me, but my friend let me swap places, as he's tall (: ) and stayed there for the whole gig.

Bon Iver. I get so many emotions rising in my chest when I think of them playing, There was so much emotion in his playing, some of the songs were just so heart breaking it watch. I'm pretty sure he was crying at one point, and all of them just seemed to put their very all into each song.
During The Wolves (Act I and II) Justin, the lead man, asked us all to sing along the "What Might Have Been Lost" lines, and I was so very close to crying! The united voices of so many people was just so wonderful.

I think Blood Bank was my favourite live. Skinny Love was amazing, the drums were awesome. They had these big drums and the (two) drummers were hitting them exactly in sync with massive padded sticks. I couldn't get any photos but it was incredible.

As well as being incredible at what they do, they all seem to be such genuine, gracious guys too. Justin said thank you after each song, and made it clear how important people coming was to him, how much it meant to him.

I'm sorry for such a picture heavy post, but i just really wanted to share these with you!

Barely even worth posting, really. I hardly did anything yesterday, it's so very hot here. which actually, i really like. so long as I have a fan..
The next week or so will be really busy so my posting might not be very regular.
My friend Jack is coming to stay today for my birthday (I turn 19 on saturday) and I've got loads of stuff planned, so I will definitely take photos! And after that, my flatmates from Uni are coming to stay for a night or two. It'll be lovely!

Today I went to see Bon Iver in Hyde Park. I cannot describe how amazing it was, I truly can't. It took my breath away and I was close to tears more than once, just from the emotions that the band were putting into their playing, their lyrics, the united singing of the crowd...It was incredible.
If you get the chance to see them, GO...

So for today, not quite the 3x3. Instead I decided to take a photo or two every hour for 12 hours, inspired by The Clothes Horse.

0900- breakfast in the garden

1000-sewing in my room, and a song that made my hair stand on end

1100- sorting out my cottons

1200- an early lunch of coleslaw, ham and bread with home made elderflower cordial, the sound of birds, floral cushions and murikami. perfect.

1300- meeting my close friend jamie and her son noah for a drink. isn't he perfect?

1400- he has the most beautiful eyes, just like his mother!

1400- hungry, and sleepy noah.

1500- Noah sleeps on, and I head back with three new threads.

1600- Insense and Bob Dylan

1700- Some time to think.

1800- hair all bundled up

1900- Dinner of quiche, salad and an apple.

Babahogs, an art cafe in the town where I go to uni is holding something called '4inch' which is basically an exhibition where everyone is invited to submit three pieces, measuring 4x4 inches. They will be up for sale for £10 each, £7 going to the artist and £3 going to Babahogs (it's a non profit cafe and is struggling financially).
I need your advice on what kind of thing to submit. i'm torn between textile experiments, like for my Foundation show or textile illustrations of birds.
I'd like to have a coherent 3 pieces, rather than a mish-mash of three pieces.
Which of these do you prefer? Which would you pay £10 for? They're both a little messy and i'd need to work out how to finish them properly, but you get the idea...

Feedback really would be appreciated!!

At the moment on my foundation course we're getting a lot of workshops and seminars, and today i attended a really interesting on on 3D Textiles. Unfortunately my outcomes weren't amazing, but i've got loads of ideas.
I also came across this wonderful artist,
TARA DONOVAN.

She takes materials, from drinking straws to Scotch tape and created incredible sculptures from them.

The shapes she creates are so beautiful, they really make you look twice and wonder and the beauty in every day objects

being back at uni means i have no time to myself. i hate sitting here at my laptop when my flatmates are in the kitchen, it's so much better to be around them! i've been trying to keep up with taking daily photos, and here are some from the other day. the weather was atrocious.

on my way up north(ish) i passed through London and took a few shots through the train window. Despite them being pretty bad quality (moving train+reflections...) i thought i'd share them because it gives the buildings a different feel somehow.

although the sales for me have not really been accessible (i need to hold onto my money...) i have splashed out anyway. kind of.
there was the lipsy dress, and then this coat I got from New Look the other day.
Yeah, okay, New Look. Greaaaat. Tacky crappy clothes. But this coat is actually really nice!

i've also bought several things second hand;

A pocket watch from spitalfields market- i also got a load of old clock parts and faces.
A vintage leather boxy bag- should be useful for going out, seeing as i can't be trusted with something without a strap...
The Just So Stories were a gift from my best friend- actually my favourite present. It's so beautiful. And 107 years old!

An old Enid Blighton book (with awesome illustrations) and another old book with a beautiful cover.

I also managed to find a lovely skirt in H&M which I hope to get photos of soon. I'm off to stay with friends for a few days so hopefully will return with many pictures!

Whilst in Berlin I saw an exhibition of work by Yukiko Terada. It was the exhibition I had been looking forward to the most and i really wasn't disappointed.

The show, 'Curious' is a set of garments, from dresses to hats to bags, with organic shapes (mostly Ivy leaves and butterflies) cut from them and reconstructed around the garment.

The experience of being in the gallery its self was awesome- it felt as if the butterflies were fluttering around you. I had to exercise a lot of self discipline not to steal one...

Each of the cut outs is hand sewn-
"I sew without a machine, only with my hands.

Sewing by hands takes much longer than by machine, but the process is important for me.

Every stitch makes its own impression, and each is a gesture against consumerism and overproduction."

For the final week of term I've been set a project influenced by someone I saw in Berlin- I'm choosing this. Challenge time...

I'm off to try and sort out my life now. I hate how I've just gone to university and already I have to decide what to do next year...

When my parents came to visit me a month ago they bought me and my flatmates roses to brighten up the kitchen. They're still just alive so I'm preserving them in all ways i can! photographs, sewing...

I'm going to Berlin tomorrow for four days, so I guess they'll be dead by the time I get back.
I'm sure I'll have many tales to tell when I return...

If there are any students in England out there, considering doing an Art Foundation year before a degree, DO IT. Seriously. Even if you're not going to do an art degree, it's free before you're 19 and it's SUCH a good, exciting year.
It really opens your eyes.
Here are some swatches I produced in the last few days. I was looking at layers, suspending time and disintegration.

The plasticy material in a lot of these is actually a water soluble film which i've left undissolved. Over time, I suspect the film will get damp from the petals and start to deteriorate. Interesting, eh.

I'm so sorry for the lack of posts for...nearly two months. University is so hectic.
The pace of the course is intense, plus we have to decide what we want to do next year,
where we want to go and also prepare for a trip to Berlin next week. I'm so excited!

I created a 'nest' and necklace out of wirewool and wax last week and decided to turn the 'nest' into a hat and do a mini photoshoot with my gorgeous flatmate. I love the photographs...

I'm sorry for my complete absence from blogging, and reading blogs. My internet has stopped working, which is SO SO frustrating. I'm still generally having a good time, I miss home and my boyfriend a lot though. I'll be going to London next weekend to stay with him, so hopefully I'll...have something to report on.

I'm really sorry for my current absence. I am now moved into my halls, and I'm getting
on really well with my flatmates and everything. The whole situation is still pretty
daunting and there are a lot of very arty looking well dressed people around.
I don't actually have the internet until at least monday in my flat, so I'm currently drinking some coffee really slowly and using free wi-fi at an internet cafe. I will be back as

Just a short post to say that my blog will be neglected over the next few days.
Tomorrow I move to university, and i still have a LOT to do. Also, I have no idea
when I will be able to get internet connection in my halls. I'm sure I'll have some very interesting stuff to post when I can though!

For now, a short from going out to the pub with my boyfriend and two of friends.
Isn't it strange how you often have a better time with people you hardly know than with
people you know better?

I'm really interested in lo-fi, analogue photography. That was the base of the name of my blog,
and even though my is primarily digital work, I will have some more photographs from my dianaf+
soon!
I don't know how many of you are familiar with deviantart, but for those who aren't, let
me explain. It's a free art community where you can post your work, and 'watch' other
deviants. The content ranges from photographs taken on a mobile phone to work
for publications, from illustration to fetish photography, to crafts, fan art, animation...
the list goes on and on! check it out!
Anyway, I've been a member for ages (under different usernames...) and i've been watching the group toy-camera for a while now. The group is
aimed at people who are interested in photography with toy cameras- holgas, dianas, polaroids...
you add them to your friends, receive updates of work, and
once you've 'joined' you can log in and upload your own photographs.
So, i hope I'll be accepted into this group and be able to post some of my own!
As I don't want to infringe anyone's copyright by posting anyone's photos, I'm going to
take advantage of friendship and feature my best e-friend; Alexis.

AWAY.
So I lied. This isn't an outfit. It's a nake-fit.
But, it was my last day at work today (working at a coffee shop) and I didn't get
any decent pictures for the self-portrait a day thing i'm doing on my deviantart.
Anyway, my uniform was pretty ugly. And shapeless.
Unisex shirts.
Ew.

The next few days are going to be pretty busy; taking my brother out,
staying at my boyfriends, going out for our anniversary, going to the pub with
him and his friend, going to a farewell party.
I will try and post before I move!

A few changes

Hey, it's Ed here - Annah's boyfriend. I've been given permission to clean this blog up and make it more user-friendly.

I changed and simplified the labels on all previous posts, and they're now linked on the right so you can exclusively browse, say, all her wonderful polaroids. I just hope Annah continues to use my labels and doesn't make a horrible mess of them again!

At the bottom of the page an archive of all posts can be seen, to make it easier to find something from further back without scrolling down a list of the entire blog. This will be more useful as the blog becomes larger.

A link to the webfeed has been added in the sidebar, with cute icon

The page scaling has been adjusted slightly. Previous the main section used 67%, and the sidebar 30%. I slimmed down the sidebar to 25% and adjusted the main section accordingly. Now those of you without widescreens can see all of the blog title banner, and those with widescreens get slightly more text space.

Finally, the post footer is now more legible and the colours of links have been changed to nice red (main) and charcoal (sidebar). No more clashing colours and red underlining.

That's all for now. Hopefully this makes it a bit easier to use, without using one of the generic built-in styles. A bit of individuality is a good thing. Tell me what you think.

Actually, no, it's beautiful.

The other day I noticed this post by kingdom of style on etsy seller, bloodgloves. She sells
the most bizarre, but really quite charming pocket shrines.
It reminded me of this shrine in Cannobio, Italy.

I know this polaroid isn't perfect, or very interesting to other people, but what I love
about photography is the way photos mean something special
to each individual person. And I think this is beautiful.
It reminds me of a beautiful place.

E-BAY STORE
I often am amazed at other people's ebay finds- mostly because the lots
that are great are often really expensive to boot. Or at least, go for more than I am
willing to pay. I got my Laura Ashley dress from scandalous1985 and when i first
bid on it, i was expecting it to shoot right up.
Encouraged by the incredibly reasonable price I got it for, I bid for this gorgeous
vintage highwaist skirt;

unfortunately, it ended up going for £18, which is really out of my price range!
I might have to have a go at making one, or customising one I may or may not
find at a charity shop. I wish I was taking a sewing machine away with me...+hint hint, mum!!+

Although I don't think it would suit me, it reminded me of this look by Agthe of Style Bytes;
